This program offers 4-6 workshops a year, and is open to the public.


We have a harm reduction office, and we offer prevention methods such as male and female condoms; Safe disposal of sharps; and new and clean drug paraphernalia. We aim to keep drug use as safe as possible.


We can also offer referrals to the appropriate health care professionals. Our goal is to promote a safe and confidential environment here at the Center.

Quick Facts:


HIV CAN BE TRANSMITTED THROUGH:

  • Unprotected sex (vaginal or anal) or oral sex with an infected person
  • Transfusions of contaminated blood
  • The sharing of contaminated needles, syringes, or other sharp instruments
  • The transmission between a mother and her baby during pregnancy, childbirth or breastfeeding


    KEY WAYS TO PREVENT HIV TRANSMISSION:

    • Practice safe sexual behaviours--use condoms!
    • Get tested and treated for STI's, including HIV
    • Avoid injecting drugs; if you do, always use new and disposable needles and syringes
    • Ensure any blood products you may receive have been tested for HIV
